Web Developer & Designer
Web Design Solutions, Inc. is by our measure the fastest growing eCommerce design and development company in San Diego. Web Shop Manager is our own enterprise eCommerce platform that doubles as the most versatile and feature packed content management system we know of. We have been in business over 10 years and worked with companies like Levolor Window Fashions, United States Postal Service, Environmental Protection Agency, and King Shock Technology, Inc.
We are looking for and energetic and passionate Web Developer & Designer to join our team. This is currently an hourly contract position, working remotely. However, we strongly prefer local applicants since this will eventually become a full-time office position in the San Diego area. Over time this could evolve into a Creative Director or Project Manager position.
Responsibilities include communicating with clients and evaluating their needs and goals, creating unique designs that achieve and exceed the project goals, and creating designs that are complete, aesthetically pleasing, and execute consistent application of usability standards and best practices. It will be critical that you are a self motivated go-getter who can take the initiative to get things done rather than waiting for instruction or direction.
You will also be responsible for creating fast, maintainable cross-browser websites from your own designs, wireframes and third party PSDs. Project range includes mostly E-Commerce, large CMS-based sites, small static sites, and occasionally custom web-applications. You must be dedicated, detail-oriented, organized, professional, and able to communicate and collaborate.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of direct industry experience
- MASTERY of valid XHTML and CSS
- Graphic design skills are a MUST
- Strong knowledge of web standards, and the ability to create CSS-based (table-less) designs w/ cross-browser compatibility from scratch
- Experience with modern Javascript libraries for rich Web user interfaces such as jQuery
- Solid understanding of SEO design and development best practices
- Demonstrable experience managing multiple projects on tight schedules
- Write clean, high-quality, standards-compliant, reusable code
- Solid analytical, conceptual, quantitative and technical skills with the ability to trouble-shoot and solve problems
- Desire to learn new technologies *and* _work outside of your comfort zone_
- Attitude of personal accountability for results and achieving individual and company goals
- Understanding and consistent application of usability standards and best practices
- PHP Smarty experience is a Plus!
- Flash experience is a Plus!

Senior LAMP Developer - True Code Ninja
Seeking a first-class senior lead LAMP developer for an immediate full time contract opportunity. We are looking for someone who lives near the San Diego area and can work in our office in North Park at least one day per month. If selected, the candidate will join an established and experienced team of developers in building the future of eCommerce & Content Management for an established So Cal corporation.
The following qualifications are a MUST, please do not waste either of our time if you do not qualify:
- Expert LAMP abilities (that means you are an expert in all 4 technologies!)
- Advanced experience with PHP MVC frameworks
- JavaScript/AJAX ninja
- GIT and/or CVS experience
- Experience with eCommerce (shopping cart, billing, co-branding, etc.)
- Knowledge of a wide range of technologies and the ability to pick up new technologies quickly
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and a willingness to interact continuously with the team and business proponents
- Attention to detail, flexibility, and a superhuman ability to produce clean, maintainable code
The following skills are desired but not required:
- Interest in the Automotive Industry
- Ebay, Amazon, Facebook API experience
- FLEX/Actionscript experience a huge plus
- J2EE and iPhone development experience
- Experience with video streaming
- Video/Red5 experience
- Code in VIM
